Proverbs 26:2 TPT An undeserved curse will be powerless to harm you. It may flutter over you like a bird, but it will find no place to land.
The last few weeks have been a little hectic in my house. Workers coming in and out, dust flying as marble or wood is being sawed and trimmed. Loud banging noises, old things being ripped up and taken out and new things being brought in. It has been a time of change and growth and a time when I could have easily slipped into a mode of despondency.
Many voices came at me accusing me of doing nothing, being lazy and ruining my chances of obeying God. Other voices of condemnation came to me, saying I did not deserve the renovations, telling me I was wasting my money. I even had a voice tell me that my dog was going to be so scared because of all the noise and new people coming in and out that she would become a wreck. The devil was working hard at flooding my mind with thoughts of unworthiness, recklessness, money waster and many other thoughts, but I put on my helmet of salvation and to take those thoughts captive. As the helmet covered my head, my mind began to quieten and the words of my heavenly Father began to softly and gently drip into my mind:
I am your beloved and you are Mine.
I love you with an everlasting love.
I fill your life with good things.
I have kissed your heart with forgiveness and healed all your diseases inside and out.
Nothing can ever separate you from My love.
I rejoice over you with singing.
I will never leave you or forsake you.
I am the one who leads you and teaches you and guides you.
I have amazing and wonderful plans for your life.
Nothing can ever make me love you more or less than I do already.
You stand in my righteousness and have every spiritual blessing because you have received My gift of salvation.
You are My child, a princess and are surrounded by my arms of faithfulness. I protect you and provide for you. you have nothing to fear.
You will see My goodness as you continue to wait on Me.
You have the mind of Christ, remember as well as a spirit of love, power, and a sound mind!
I sighed with relief and read on in Proverbs and found this little gem in chapter 26:2 - An undeserved curse will be powerless to harm you. It may flutter over you like a bird, but it will find no place to land.
As I looked at this verse in several different translations and read foot notes and asked Holy Spirit for some insights, I found the story of David and Shimei in 2 Samuel 16. Shimei was helping Absalom, son of king David, to become king because they were accusing David of having killed king Saul.
2 Samuel 16:8 NLT "The LORD is paying you back for all the bloodshed in Saul's clan. You stole his throne, and now the LORD has given it to your son Absalom. At last you will taste some of your own medicine, for you are a murderer!"
David could have retaliated and had Shimei killed, but he stood firm on his promise of not killing any of Saul’s family, a promised he had made with Jonathan, Saul’s son. David knew he was innocent. He knew these curses would not hurt him or have any place to land, because he was innocent.
When the enemy comes in with a flood of words and destroys your confidence, know without a shadow of a doubt, what the Lord says about you are the only words that count. THE ONLY WORDS THAT COUNT. Stand firm in who you are in Christ, allow His words to be the only ones to escape your mouth, let His promises to you and His goodness and truth about you be all that you speak of. You will find as you speak, the lying thoughts will be silenced and a peace which passes all understanding will flood your spirit, then it will flood your soul, and finally your body will respond with health and peace.
I was filled with peace and good ideas. Wow, God is so good. For a few weeks before all the work started, I told my dog all the things that would be happening, from the changes in the surroundings as well as the noise and all the strangers coming in an out. Guess what? She was calm and unusually so has accepted every new man who came in! God is so good. I had set up a basket with my basic needs in the bathroom downstairs. I packed it as if I was going on a holiday for one month. It has worked wonderfully. I also packed up a basket with the basic things I needed for my office, so I could continue as best as possible with my book and edits etc.
God is so good and kind. As I filled my mind with His words and kept the helmet of salvation on my head all the time, the good ideas and peace came, as I drew on His word and using the mind of Christ He has given me. He has given you the mind of Christ too, and He longs to fill you with His ideas for your everyday life.
Dear One, feed your spirit with the truth and watch the soul (mind, will, and emotions), and body follow. Especially in these times when so many things are thrown at you and you are not sure what is truth and what is not. Then you find fear rising in us. For too many years now the people of God have been leaning on their own understanding and aiming to fix minds. Many programs have been created and relied upon. When you chose to follow Jesus, your spirit was born again and reconnected with God. Feeding your spirit with the truth from the Word of God is what will heal your soul and your body. Strengthen your spirit in Him. Speak to Him. Listen to Him and you will find yourself to become that new man in Christ and operating from the Spirit and not from the flesh. I did, and was strengthened and able to move through the weeks in His strength. Hallelujah.
If you need me to pray for you, send me an email and let me know how. The Father says it is time to find out who He really is.
Blessings of peace to you as you learn to listen to the Spirit of truth.
