The Lord is Always There for His Children

Proverbs 24:16 TPT

[16] For the lovers of God may suffer adversity and stumble seven times, but they will continue to rise over and over again. But the unrighteous are brought down by just one calamity and will never be able to rise again.

I look out on a beautiful, clean, snowy but sunny scene this morning, and am very grateful for my home protecting me from those minus wind chills! Thank You Jesus!

I am so encouraged by these words in Proverbs and believe you will rise up with strength from God Himself as I share with you what I perceive in this verse.

Three words show us who will benefit from this amazing promise … lovers of God ….

Ask yourself: “Am I a lover of God?”

“Do I pursue Him, and seek to deepen my relationship with Him?”

“Am I allowing Him to be my one and only identity?”

“Am I willing to fully surrender, giving Him complete authority in every area of my life?”

These questions show your heart. What did you find, Dear One?

I found, and I am being honest now, a heart desiring all the benefits and willing to do some pursuing and surrendering. But complete and full surrender and none of my accomplishments in my identity … I felt a little tug of the flesh. Ouch! I mean, surely I can take a little credit for myself and have at least one area where I am in control?

No! Dear One, God wants full access to every part of your life, full surrender, and He wants you to walk in your wonderful new identity. He died on the cross for you to be made new upon salvation. When you committed to making Him Lord of your life, He gave you a new identity. He said you are

  • Loved
  • Chosen
  • Adopted
  • Accepted
  • Redeemed
  • Forgiven
  • Righteous

He wants you to walk in your identity and surrender fully to Him in order for you to be able to live by the Spirit and not by the flesh, as well as for you to be protected and provided for, in every area of need.

This is good news! This is huge. Something to celebrate. Right here in this verse you see what your protection and provision look like:

  • whatever happens to you, you will never be destroyed
  • God will always be there
    • helping you up
    • giving you what you need to get out of the situation whatever your need is – spiritual, physical, emotional, relational, psychological, or financial.
  • You will have
    • light in every dark situation (Micah 7:8)
    • deliverance (Psalm 34:19)
    • the assurance of being able to get up again (Proverbs 24:16, Psalm 37:23-24).
    • God taking care of those against you

It is time to start walking in your new identity in Christ. For too many years now the church has been working on improving themselves for God, and the result is a weak and sick church. The evidence is in the statistics. Suicide, depression, anxiety, divorce, – just to name a few- are as rampant in the church as they are in the world. People are not drawn to Christ because they see no difference between the world and the church. The church is not seen as essential. It should be, for we have all the answers.

Rise up and daily put on your identity in Christ and the armor of God. Root yourself in Christ’s love and word and begin to experience His presence. Submit to His authority in every area of your life.

As you do this daily, your flesh dies to self and you feel God’s love more and you are able to walk in His Spirit. Your focus is on Him and peace overwhelms you and faith kicks in. It is a life-long process and if you persevere and do not give up, you will reap a harvest of blessing (Galatians 6:9).

Blessings of trust to you

In Christ,

Barbara
